AAKSS (Ardee Air Knife Stone Separation System) is an innovative dry coal sorting technology developed by Ardee Hi-Tech Private Limited for efficient removal of impurities such as stones, shale, and pyrites from raw coal.
Inspired by traditional winnowing principles, the technology uses a precisely engineered high-velocity pneumatic jet generated through specialized nozzles. As coal particles are discharged from a controlled feeder, differences in particle size, density and aerodynamic behaviour determine their trajectory path, allowing separation into multiple product streams.
The system combines pneumatic systems, precision electronics, adjustable separation plates and real-time coal ash monitoring to improve coal quality, reduce washing costs, and increase operational efficiency for mines, washeries and power plants, while being environmentally friendly.

The system can operate in 2-product mode (Cleans + Rejects) or 3-product mode (Cleans + Middlings + Rejects), allowing flexible beneficiation based on plant requirements.

Trials demonstrated 14–17% ash reduction in clean coal at 50–60% yield, improving coal quality while maximizing usable output for downstream applications.
Smart Automation with Real-Time Quality Control
Integrated with ARCAM-XRT online ash analyzers, the system continuously monitors coal quality and automatically adjusts air velocity and separation plate positions for optimized performance.
